About us >
South Calgary Community Preschool is a "learning through play" based preschool that strives to teach that learning is fun. Our goal is to provide a safe, loving atmosphere where Christian values and principles are incorporated into a thematic curriculum. We focus on your child's growth as a whole mind, body, and spirit. While we primarily focus on child-led play, we also weave in staff-directed activities to best prepare your child for the learning years ahead of them. We want your child's first school experience to be a positive one that makes them excited to be lifelong learners!

Nicole has a passion for working with children and strives to impart an excitement of learning to the children she has worked with over the years. She loves watching the children have “light bulb” moments and seeing them master a skill they previously found difficult.
Nicole is a graduate of the Mount Royal University Disability Studies program and has worked with individuals with various disabilities for many years.
From 2012 to 2021, she worked at William Roper Hull School as an Educational Child and Youth Care Counsellor. She worked in a classroom setting with elementary and high school-aged students who have significant mental health, trauma, and social/emotional challenges.
Nicole is married to Russ, one of the pastors at SCCC. They have three young children that they both love spending time with.
Working behind the scenes, Kathy enjoys the administrative duties of operating the preschool in addition to working part-time as an Administrative Assistant in the church office. She has been working for the church since 2002.
Kathy has a past history with South Calgary Community Preschool as both of her children came to the preschool and she was part of the Preschool Board for a number of years. She enjoys working with and getting to know the preschool families and watching the excitement in the children while they learn and grow.
Kathy and her husband, Derik, have been married for over 30 years. They have two grown children. Away from the office, Kathy enjoys reading, cooking, gardening and going for walks.
Tamzen’s experience as an Early Childhood Educator began in 2019, when she started working with K-6’s in an after school care program. She loves getting to know the children in her care while playing board games and making crafts with them.
Tamzen studied at Alberta Bible College from 2016-2018 in their Bachelor of Religious Education program. She now works between SCCP, an after school care program, and as a family photographer. When she’s not at work, she enjoys spending her time reading good books, walking her dog, and watching movies with her husband.
South Calgary Community Preschool has served Cedarbrae and the surrounding communities for over 35 years. Our Preschool is a ministry of South Calgary Community Church. We have been licensed with the Alberta Government for many years, which gives us the opportunity to offer families an affordable option through the government child care subsidy and grants.
Our desire is to partner with families to provide each student with early learning opportunities in a Christ-centred, safe, nurturing, and loving environment as they begin their adventure as learners. Our hope is that each child will foster a joy of learning, grow in their knowledge of Jesus, and discover new things about the world around them.
Our teachers and staff are filled with a love and passion for Jesus. They are experienced, knowledgeable, loving teachers who recognize that each child is a precious and unique gift from God. Our teachers have their Early Childhood Educator certification through the provincial government and are First Aid certified.
